Yesterday I signed up with the Groucho Club Singers, to terrify the members on December 11th.

Tonight I was assiduously practising my parts in Sleigh Ride, The Christmas Song and Winter Wonderland, all avowedly secular, when I glanced out of the window and this is what I saw:

Milo the Golden Retriever did what 7 month old puppies do. He tried to eat the garden.

Snow in London in October. I can’t remember having seen snow this century.

Someone must have been listening.

A large brown package arrived in London the other day, posted from Wales. Inside, carefully packaged, was this (cleverly) photoshopped photograph of me and Yvonne.

I don’t remember who took this or when or where (though the stone in the background looks distinctly Welsh)  and I’m none the wiser because that’s all there was in the package. No note, no slip, no nothing.

So thank you very much, whoever you are, and at least I can point to this posting when an aggrieved friend or relation snubs me for being so rude as not to reply to their surprise gift.
